OUR HOME

As a young girl, my dream was to one day live in a farmhouse surrounded by horses, dogs and other creatures just like James Herriot. At the end of summer 2007 I bought a nice house from the countryside, near Turku from the county of Kisko. This page is mainly for my friends and relatives both in Finland as well as abroad to have a peek of how we are now living. The process has just began and there is so much to do. I am going to update new photos for time to time.

I found my dream house about 100 kilometres west from Finland's capital Helsinki, in the middle of the traditional countryside of county Kisko. It is just an hour drive to seaport Turku by The Baltic Sea and also 1,5 hour drive to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in Helsinki.

The house is build in the year 1985 and it has been particularly decorated  to suit in to my life company with the dogs. As I have close relatives allergic to dogs, my dream was to have a house with the opportunity to invite also those individuals to visit us for time to time. With this plan on my mind I decided to decorate whole downstairs of the building just for the dogs.

Over half acre yard is fenced so that my dogs, small & big, get to run freely.  All dogs live with me inside the house, they are considered to be part of the family and most trusted friends. Puppies will also grow in the middle of our daily life and are soon integrated with the adult dogs so that they can learn the social skills needed to became a well socialised dogs.

During my first winter in the new house, I noticed the amount of small tenants I had in the upper parts of the building. Thankfully the mousses didn't run on the floors downstairs but kept me awake by scratching the sealing. So, when my work colleagues mother was having kittens to her cat, I decided to go and see the little mousetraps. Now, I couldn't imagine life without cats!

After I bought the house my friends joked about me having sheep's or goats to take care of the yard. Indeed, in the beginning it really _was_ just a joke. Fall 2008 I participated in herding with my dogs and since then I began to wonder would it be possible to have animals right here at home which my dogs could herd. After that, the decision was easy to made. Spring 2009 the first goats moved to our little ranch and I have even began to dream of few sheep's to companion them.

To me, as animals are so important part of my life, it has been clear right from the beginning that this lifestyle is the only one for me. It has been a long and sometime frustrating journey to prove my relatives to acknowledge the same thing!

Along with each animal comes a significant responsibility, there is just no point of having them if one doesn't have enough time for them. Sometimes it is hard to make the pack work together and at the same time be forced to do difficult decisions. In order of everything going well, one has to think very carefully which animal is going to stay, or in addition, which you can have at all. Every animal needs to be taking care of and even more: one has to have time to love them also individually.

I have all kind of exiting ideas to carry out in the future, lets se which one of those are going to come true! Finally I can live my Lifedream true with the dogs in our every day life.

Friends and visitors are always welcome!
